Choosing your New Roof

When the time comes for you to put a new roof on your home, there are many things to consider.

First, the style of your home, then the pitch of your roof, and also the area where you live.

Warmer climents that have little to no snow may lend themselves to a different type of roofing material than a colder heavy snow area.

There are many types of roofing materials available.

Each has a differant lifespan and use. Basic asphalt shingles typically last 15-20 yrs, and are the most common shingle used.

Metal type roofing is becoming more popular and will last 40-60 yrs.

Shake roof's made of either Redwood, hardwood,metal or rubber also last 40-60 yrs and are used on homes with a 4/12 pitch and steeper.

Slate roofing may be used on home's with less of a pitch and may last up to 200 yrs.

Ceramic also is a long lasting choice at 100+ yrs.

Concrete requires the roof to be reinforced before applying, and has a life of 30 + yrs

For your flat roof, a membrane roof works well with a 40+ yr lifespan.
