Five Reasons people Buy in Skagit County
I’m not a native of theSkagit Valley but was raised in a small town in Northern Idaho. I grew to love the benefits of living in a smaller community with a quality of life that revolves around the natural beauty and resources of the area. If you talk with residents of the Skagit Valley, you’ll find there’s no shortage of reasons they love the area. Its location keeps everyone connected to the benefits of both small town and major city living. You can travel five minutes or two hours in any direction and be in some of the most spectacular recreation and scenery in the world. Some of the world’s largest employers are within a short commute on the I-5 corridor including Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon.com and yes even Starbucks. If higher education is important there are over 100 colleges or universities with in a 150 mile radius. Some of them include University of Washington, Washington State University Extensions, Western Washington University, Central Washington University, Skagit Valley College and multiple local Community Colleges and Trade Schools. If international studies are important, right across the border to the north is British Columbia and all it has to offer.
When I left Northern Idaho, I went to college in our Nation’s Capital, Washington DC. One of the things that I discovered about the nation’s capital is that there were people living there from all over the world for a variety of reasons because of both politics and travel. I’ve discovered the same is true about the Skagit Valley. Because of its proximity to the Ports in Puget Sound, the Military Bases and Naval Air Stations and the Global Employers, you’ll find some lots of transplants from all over the world. They are attracted to the same quality of life and scenery that the locals are. I think that the people in the Skagit Valley have what I call a “Destination Lifestyle”, which means that they all choose to live here. It’s rare to find someone that calls the Skagit Valley home that doesn’t have a compelling reason for meaning it. People seem to generally be as happy to live here as I am and aren’t interested in moving. The real estate prices are some of the most reasonable in the country so it makes it easy for people to relocate and find exactly what type of home suits their lifestyle!
When you are planning to spend time in the Skagit Valley make sure you spend some time researching these communities. You’ll find plenty more reasons to buy a home or real estate in Anacortes, Burlington, La Conner, Mount Vernon, Sedro Woolley or Concrete. There are lots of smaller Skagit County communitieswithin these areas and definitely something for everyone.
